Breed

This dwarf breed is derived from breeding larger rabbits with the Netherland dwarf. It is a common observance that the dwarf breed is slightly larger than the Netherland dwarf. Most of them have smaller faces and some of them even have a rounded head, large eyes and small ears similar to that of Netherland dwarf.

They are the rarest

Size and Weight

The Netherland’s Dwarf Rabbit weigh about 500 gm to 1.13 kg and so they make ideal pets. They aren’t used as a supply for meat and fur due to their small size.

Lifespan

The life span of Netherland’s Dwarf Rabbit is on an average for about 7 to 10 years, but the age of any pet is dependent on its care and also its nutrition i.e. diet.

Diet

This breed of rabbit doesn’t require as much a feeding as other breeds, it also varies from individual to individual. Generally, a few leafy vegetables serve as an ideal food. May owners end up failing at providing a proper diet that often leads their rabbit into the danger-zone. The digestive system of the dwarf rabbit is quite sensitive as compared to other breeds so this needs to be taken care of.

What to avoid – Eggplant, Celery, Legumes, Radishes, Spinach and certain types of Lettuce can be hazardous to the rabbit’s health.

Vaccination

Proper vaccination on the regular interval of time can help the Netherland’s dwarf rabbit fight against various problems before they go out of control. They are also advised to go for annual check-ups just like any other pet. The dwarf rabbit primarily needs to be the vaccine against diseases like Viral hemorrhagic and Myxomatosis etc.

Grooming

As a matter of fact, the Netherland’s dwarf rabbits don’t need a lot amount of grooming since they can keep themselves clean. However, when the shedding period arrives, you can take care of removing excessive fur. It is also advisable to check for the parasites. Their nails need to be trimmed on a regular interval of time, you can take help of a vet to perform it for you.

Shelter and Hygiene

Providing proper housing is essential for the proper maintenance of any pet. Although Netherland’s dwarf is the smallest breed of rabbit, however, they require a plenty of space to reside in. You can accordingly choose a cage with wire or solid bottom, as long as you are sure that there’s sufficient area for the rabbit to rest. Also, one should take proper care of keeping the cage clean.

Training

It is very important to spend a good amount of time with your pet on the outside on regular basis. The dwarf rabbits are usually very playful and agile so you can provide your furry pal proper training from a pet-trainer.

Purchase

This is a rare breed of rabbit which isn’t easily available in India. However, you can view and purchase online at various websites like Locanto, Gingertail, and Nabard etc.

Most of the companies based outside India have options to pay through PayPal or Credit cards which are not available with most of the Indians, sigh! Even the debit cards issued by most of the banks aren't acceptable on these websites.

Are the 'reserved' really the ones who 'deserve'?

By // No comments:

A picture depicting how the reservation system works
The reservation system is certainly primitive and there is a call for change from every other nook and corner of the country. No other country besides India has a caste-based reservation system. And due to this very caste-based reservation system, the talented often miss out on opportunities. Let me enlighten you all on this fuck-all system, where only the 'reserved' deserves to study in better colleges and institutions.

As a medical aspirant, I was scrolling through the previous year cut-offs of the much desired medical colleges of Delhi, most notably MAMC ( Maulana Azad Medical College), to evaluate my chances in the upcoming NEET-2 exam. To my astonishment, the cut-offs for the reserved were drastically lower than that of the unreserved.

The 'general category' merit list comprised of 506 candidates. The first candidate of the list scored 695 marks and the 506th candidate scored 516 marks(out of 720). The lowest marks in Physics(out of 180) was 61 and the highest was 175.

On the contrary, the 48-candidates ST category merit list was topped by 391 marks. The lowest marks of that list was a meagre 288. A plethora of one digit scores in Physics coupled with another bunch of marks on the other side of zero reflected the quality of students who would be studying in premier institutions of Incredible India.

Here I stand, pondering over my future and this insensitive system. Meanwhile, the reserved are devoiding the deserved of opportunities and excellence. Even at the craziest times, a candidate scoring 516 is far more intellectual than a candidate than who is scoring 391.

To all those who will comment in support of the reservation system:

Many of these reserved candidates are actually from well-off families and have completed their education from the best private schools in India. They never ever had been bereft of facilities of any sorts or have faced some sort of financial crisis.

While the reserved will keep getting opportunities, the son of a watch-guard, who has been a brahmin by birth, will suffer. At the same time, thousands of people who form the lowest strata of the society(economically) but have been born in 'higher castes' will suffer. At the same time, the quality of education that is imparted to this upcoming generation will suffer. And at the same time, India will suffer and will be a 'developing country' till eternity.

Author's Note

Hate and wrath of the reserved are invited. Appreciation and empathy of the unreserved will be appreciated.
I do not condemn the reservation system but I do condemn the unrightfully reserved. People with lack of facilities and resources must be reserved to compete with people with better resources.

8 signs that you’re smarter than average

By // No comments:
Intelligence isn’t measured by what you know but how fast you acquire information or adapt to new things. Most people do not have even the slightest idea of how smart they are. Although intelligence or IQ is very difficult to be calculated in numerics, here are 8 signs that prove you’re smarter than average:

8 signs that you are smarter than average

1.      You’re the oldest child

A study conducted in 2007 suggests that oldest siblings are usually smarter and it isn’t sheerly because of genetics but psychology and family dynamics. Elder siblings are smarter than the younger ones due to the psychological interchange between them and their parents.

2.      You took music lesson

People who take music classes tend to have a good command over their verbal skills which are a sign of self-control and focus. There are a lot of instances over the internet which proves that learning music raises your verbal IQ. So, if you took music lessons as a kid, you’re definitely smarter than average.

3.      You don’t smoke

A study of 20,000 young men conducted in the year 2010 found that the average 18-21 year smoker had an IQ of 94 while the nonsmoker had an IQ of 101. It is needless to say that smoking damages most parts of the body including the brain thereby affecting the ability to think and act wisely during critical circumstances.

4.      You’re thin

A 2006 study has revealed, bigger the waistline, lower the cognitive ability. Another study published during the same year found that children who show poor academic performance are likely to turn obese after they become adults. The study concluded that smarter people would have got better opportunities in terms of education, status and higher paying jobs which put them in a better position to take care of their health.

5.      You’re left handed

While you would have always felt as an odd man out being a left hander, it turns out to be a trait of aptitude. A study showed that left-handedness is linked to divergent thinking, especially in men. The unusual ability to combine or concentrate on two different things/objects at a time is a sign of intelligence.

6.      You’re tall

Taller children perform significantly well in cognitive tests as compared to shorter children. Further, a 2008 study showed that taller people perform academically well as children and earn more money as adults.

7.      You are a cat lover

Dog lovers are more outgoing than cat lovers, revealed a study. Based on the same study, cat people scored well on the test that measured cognitive ability thereby indicating that cat people are smarter than average.

8.      You’ve used recreational drugs

Kids who had scored higher in IQ tests drank more alcohol and/or consumed recreational drugs, as revealed by a study conducted by evolutionary psychologist Satoshi Kanazawa and his colleagues.

This list has all the random traits that associate each other from nowhere, so if the above signs do not apply to you, it doesn’t exclude you from having a high intelligence quotient. However, if a lot of the traits on the list apply to you, then you might just be more outstanding and smarter than the average individual.
